About Homewitch

Sunny Simmons Steincamp, the Homewitch

I promise a real bio at some point in the near future, when I can convince Cat to write one for me. It’s a terrible thing to have to write about yourself, ya know?

The basics, however, are these.  My name is Sunny Simmons Steincamp, and I’m a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and cook with my fingers in entirely too many pies (and not all of them originate in my kitchen.)  I hope that all the information I am gathering together here will inspire home-makers (not just stay at home moms, either!) of all ages to rediscover the joy and magic that can be part of making a home for your family.

Besides recipes, meal plans, holiday meal ideas, cooking tips, party planning escapades, food news snippets, and other yummy entries — and lots of pictures — look for much more to come.  For one thing, I hope to share some of my philosophy of taking care of my home and family.  I’d like to do some reviews for cook books, cooking shows, and other homemaking related things.  Same for gadgets, tools, and equipment.  Ok, so I’m ambitious, and it’ll take a while to get it all included, but hey… part of the fun of this for me is that I’m not in some studio kitchen, I’m not a professional photographer (much less food photographer,) and what you see here is what I’m doing, day to day, in real life, right here in our home in rural Cumberland County, Virginia.  You’ll meet my husband, Cather, who is a Professional Geek (I can’t keep enough words in my head to tell you his real title) for a large banking institution and a Pagan author and activist.  You’ll run into The Tishlet, the almost-16-year-old daughter who is learning to cook, herself, and assists from time to time with photography for the site.  She’s an awesome kid.  Our extended family will pop up from time to time, as well: two son/daughter-in-law pairs (Trevor & Ashley, and Karleigh & Brandon.) the first of which provided me with my first grandson, TJ, on September 16 of last year, and the latter who are scheduled to round it out with a granddaughter on or about December 25.  The other two boys, Evan and Dustin, and their girlfriends, put in the occasional appearance when their busy work and social schedules permit.  Even my Mom, Pat, and my brother, Shane will feature from time to time, as food is always a big part of our family get-togethers.

Thanks for coming by, and I hope you enjoy the site.  Please feel free to email me with any questions, comments, or suggestions you have, and I hope you have fun with me… living magically!
